How firing works
Drop off
Bring bone-dry work during studio hours. We measure, ticket and price it at the counter.
Weekly load
Your pieces join the week's firing load. Most work is fired within about a week.
Cooling
Kilns open when they're cool โ never rushed. That's how pieces survive.
Pick up
Pick up during studio hours when your ticket is called. Quick and easy.
House rules (they keep everyone's work safe)
- Prove your clay & glaze. Show us the clay box / glaze label โ unknown materials can ruin a whole load, so no label, no firing.
- Bone-dry only for bisque. Damp work explodes; exploded work damages neighbors' pieces.
- Damage fees apply if a glaze runs onto a shelf or a piece explodes and damages others' work โ we'll go over the details at drop-off.
- Wax and wipe glaze bottoms. Pieces stuck to the shelf may not survive removal.
- Turnaround is usually about a week, batched with the studio's regular loads.
Firing every week?
If you're firing 2โ4 times a month, look at membership ($99/mo) with shelf rental ($25/mo) โ your work lives here between firings, and studio time is included.
